Sir Coles John Child, 2nd Bt. was born on 11 February 1906.1 He was the son of Sir Coles Child, 1st Bt. and Eliza Caroline Barton.2 He married Sheila Mathewson, daughter of Hugh Mathewson, on 2 February 1933.1 He died on 26 May 1971 at age 65.1
Sir Coles John Child, 2nd Bt. was educated at Eton College, Eton, Berkshire, England.1 He was Lord of the Manor of Bromley.3 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Child, of Bromley Palace, Bromley, Kent [U.K., 1919] on 29 January 1929.1 He was Aide-de-Camp to Governor and Commander-in-Chief of Canada between 1931 and 1933.3 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Coldstream Guards.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Surrey in 1960.1
