     Sir Thomas Gladstone, 2nd Bt. was born on 25 July 1804 at Liverpool, Lancashire, England.³ He was the son of Sir John Gladstone, 1st Bt. and Anne MacKenzie Robertson.^1,2 He married Louisa Fellowes, daughter of Robert Fellowes, on 27 August 1835.¹ He died on 20 March 1889 at age 84.¹
     Sir Thomas Gladstone, 2nd Bt. graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.).¹ He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Kincardineshire.¹ He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Gladstone, of Fasque and Balfour, co. Kincardine [U.K., 1846] on 7 December 1851.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Queensborough, Portarlington, Leicester and Ipswich.¹ He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Civil Law (D.C.L.).¹ He also had six daughters, who all died unmarried.¹
