     Reverend Joseph Hordern was born on 1 April 1794.1 He was the son of Reverend Joseph Hordern and Ellen Allen.1 He married Maria Frances Cotton, daughter of Henry Calveley Cotton and Matilda Lockwood, on 12 October 1831.1 He died on 12 August 1876 at age 82.1
     Reverend Joseph Hordern graduated from Brasenose College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was the Vicar at Rostherne, Cheshire, England.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for the East Riding, Yorkshire.1 He was the Rector at Burton Agnes, Yorkshire, England.2
