     Major Peter Hugh Hordern was born on 13 July 1916.1 He is the son of Lt.-Col. Charles Hordern and Cecil Pearl Beeching.1 He married Alison Cecily Weakley, daughter of Arthur Leonard Weakley, on 2 August 1941.1
     Major Peter Hugh Hordern was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England.1 He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal Tank Regiment.1 He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1945, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was invested as a Member, Order of the British Empire (M.B.E.) in 1941.1 He was decorated with the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1945.1 He became a Freeman, Armourers and Braziers Company.1 He adopted Janet Josephine Hordern.2
