Sir John William Spencer Maclure, 3rd Bt. was born on 4 February 1899.2 He was the son of John Edward Stanley Maclure and Ruth Ina Muriel McHardy.3 He married Elspeth King Clark, daughter of Alexander King Clark and Katherine Margaret Elizabeth Mainwaring Knocker, on 29 April 1929.1 He died on 1 March 1980 at age 81.2
He was also known as 3rd Baronet Maclure.1 He was educated Wellington and RMC Sandhurst.2 He was Lieutenant-Colonel King's Royal Rifle Corps WW I, Russia , WW II in BAOR 1944–47, commander 41 Garrison Hook of Holland 1947–49 in 1919.2 He was invested as a Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1945.2
