Andrew Robinson Stoney-Bowes was born on 19 June 1747.1 He was the son of George Stoney and Eliza Johnston.1 He married, firstly, Hannah Newton, daughter of William Newton, in September 1769.1 He married, secondly, Mary Eleanor Bowes, daughter of George Bowes and Mary Gilbert, on 17 January 1777 at St. James's, Westminster, London, England.1 He and Mary Eleanor Bowes were divorced on 3 March 1789 by Act of Parliament.1 He died on 16 January 1810 at age 62.1
He was given the name of Andrew Robinson Stoney at birth.1 Circa January 1777 his name was legally changed to Andrew Robinson Stoney-Bowes.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of County Durham in 1780.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Newcastle-upon-Tyne.1
