     Hon. Alan Joseph Pennington was born on 5 April 1837.1 He was the son of Lowther Augustus John Pennington, 3rd Baron Muncaster and Frances Catherine Ramsden.1 He married Anna Eleanora Hartopp, daughter of Edward Hartopp, on 9 December 1880.1 He died on 14 June 1913 at age 76, without issue.1
     Hon. Alan Joseph Pennington fought in the Siege of Sebastopol, in the Royal Navy.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Rifle Brigade.1

     Anna Eleanora Hartopp was the daughter of Edward Hartopp.1 She married Hon. Alan Joseph Pennington, son of Lowther Augustus John Pennington, 3rd Baron Muncaster and Frances Catherine Ramsden, on 9 December 1880.1 She died on 5 February 1934.1
     From 9 December 1880, her married name became Pennington.1
