     John Cobbold was born in January 1745/46.1 He was the son of Thomas Cobbold and Sarah Cobbold.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Wilkinson, daughter of James Wilkinson, in 1773.1 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Knipe, daughter of Robert Knipe, in 1791.1
     John Cobbold lived at Holywells, Ipswich, Suffolk, England.1 He had six other sons and eight daughters by his first wife, and a further six sons and one daughter by his second wife.1

     John Chevallier Cobbold was born on 24 August 1797.1 He was the son of John Cobbold and Harriet Chevallier.2 He married Lucy Patterson, daughter of Reverend Henry Patterson, on 14 May 1827.1 He died on 6 October 1882 at age 85.1
