Sir William Dutton Colt was baptised on 2 March 1645/46.1 He was the son of George Colt and Elizabeth Dutton.2 He married, firstly, Lucy Webb, daughter of Thomas Webb.1 He married, secondly, Dorothy Sanderson, daughter of Henry Sanderson.1 He married, thirdly, Mary Garneys, daughter of John Garneys, on 20 November 1684.1 He died in August 1693 at age 47 at Heilbronn, Baden-Württemburg, Germany.1
Sir William Dutton Colt was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) by Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1680.1 He was invested as a Knight in 1684.1 On 20 November 1684 married 3rd Mary, daughter and coheir of John Garneys and widow of William Shipman.1 He was Master of the Horse to Prince Rupert.1 He was Envoy to Hanover, Celle, Brunswick and Dresden between 1689 and 1693.1
