     Lt.-Gen. William Godfrey Dunham Massy was born on 24 November 1838.² He was the son of Henry William Massy and Maria Cahill.² He married Elizabeth Jane Seaton, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Sir Thomas Seaton, on 20 November 1869.² He died on 20 September 1906 at age 67.²
     Lt.-Gen. William Godfrey Dunham Massy was educated at Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland.² He fought in the Crimean War in 1855, where he was dangerously wounded at the Redan, and was mentioned in despatches.² He was decorated with the award of Legion of Honour.² He was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Law (LL.D.) by Trinity College, Dublin University, Dublin, County Dublin, Ireland, in 1873.² He fought in the Afghan War between 1879 and 1880, where he was mentioned in despatches.² He was invested as a Companion, Order of the Bath (C.B.) in 1887.² He held the office of High Sheriff of County Tipperary in 1899.² He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of County Tipperary.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for County Tipperary.² He gained the rank of Lieutenant-General in the service of the 5th Royal Irish Lancers.² He lived at Grantstown, County Tipperary, Ireland.¹

     Gertrude Annette Seton Massy is the daughter of Lt.-Gen. William Godfrey Dunham Massy and Elizabeth Jane Seaton.^2,3 She married, firstly, Colonel James George Cockburn on 21 September 1893.^1,3 She married, secondly, Godfrey Warburton Massy, son of William Massy and Sophia Grant, on 27 December 1904.¹
     From 21 September 1893, her married name became Cockburn.¹ From 27 December 1904, her married name became Massy.

     George William Hughes Massey was born on 16 June 1864.¹ He was the son of William Massy and Sophia Grant.² He married, firstly, Edith Margaret Birrell, daughter of John Birrell, in 1889.¹ He married Marion Clarke, daughter of George Bryson Clarke, on 28 May 1912.¹ He died on 19 June 1914 at age 50.¹

     Edith Margaret Birrell was the daughter of John Birrell.² She married George William Hughes Massey, son of William Massy and Sophia Grant, in 1889.¹ She died in 1910.¹
     From 1889, her married name became Massey.¹

     Marjorie Geraldine Massey was born in 1890.¹ She was the daughter of George William Hughes Massey and Edith Margaret Birrell.² She married Hon. Arthur Read Slipp in 1925.¹
