     Stephen Edward Poyntz was born on 22 September 1835.1 He was the son of Edward Henry Poyntz and Mary Frances Massy.2 He married Dorothy Ann Thorold, daughter of James Thorold, on 29 January 1864.1
     Stephen Edward Poyntz gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He emigrated to New Zealand arriving on 1856.1

     Major William Henry Poyntz was born on 24 October 1838.1 He was the son of Edward Henry Poyntz and Mary Frances Massy.2 He married Henrietta Emily Laycock, daughter of Henry Stainton Laycock, on 19 February 1870.1 He died on 21 October 1892 at age 53.1
     Major William Henry Poyntz gained the rank of Major in the service of the Royal Marines Light Infantry.1 He was Chief Constable of Essex.1
