     Lt.-Col. Mervyn Chidley Coote was born on 5 June 1885.1 He was the son of Commander John Pemberton Plumptre Coote and Eleanor Agnes Osmaston.2 He married Cecil Maud Vera Park, daughter of Maj.-Gen. Cecil William Park, on 10 July 1915.1 He died on 18 August 1950 at age 65.1
     Lt.-Col. Mervyn Chidley Coote gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the 4th Hazara Pioneers, Indian Army.1
