     Lt.-Col. James Lowry Cole Acton was born on 6 November 1856.1 He was the son of William Acton and Georgina Lowry.1 He married Matilda Julia Milman, daughter of Henry Salusbury Milman and Matilda Jane Grove, on 7 April 1888.1 He died on 3 September 1914 at age 57.1
     Lt.-Col. James Lowry Cole Acton was a Lieutenant-Colonel, with the Connaught Rangers.1 He lived at Killarney Hill, Bray, County Wicklow, Ireland.1
