     Surgn.-Col. Samuel Kyle Cotter was born on 10 November 1841.3 He was the son of Reverend Joseph Rogerson Cotter and Mary Purcell.2 He married, secondly, Mary Elizabeth Anderson, daughter of Robert Anderson.3 He married, firstly, Alice Jamieson, daughter of Captain Thomas Jamieson, on 8 June 1868.3 He died in 1890.3
     Surgn.-Col. Samuel Kyle Cotter graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).3 He graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.).4

     Ellen Harriett Cotter was the daughter of Surgn.-Col. Samuel Kyle Cotter and Alice Jamieson.2 She married Joseph Rogerson Cotter, son of Reverend Richard Henry Cotter and Sarah Pearce Lawrenson, in 1913.3 She died on 15 September 1948.3
