     Colonel Walter Bagenal was born on 27 January 1614.1 He was the son of George Bagenal and Joan Butler.1 He married Elizabeth Roper, daughter of Christopher Roper, 2nd Baron Teynham.1 He died in October 1652 at age 38 at Kilkenny, County Kilkenny, Ireland, executed by Commonwealth troops.1
     Colonel Walter Bagenal held the office of Governor of County Carlow in March 1641.1 He gained the rank of Colonel in the service of the Leinster Army of Confederate Catholics.1 He was a prominent leader of the Confederation of Catholics.1 He fought in the English Civil War.1 He lived at Dunleckney, Bagenalstown, County Carlow, Ireland.1
