     James Franklin Bland was born on 6 April 1850.1 He was the son of Francis Christopher Bland and Jane Hamilton.1 He married Agnes Margaret Block, daughter of Samuel Wilson Block, on 31 December 1873.1 He died on 16 September 1927 at age 77.2
