     Lt.-Col. Molesworth Phillips was born on 15 August 1755.2 He was the son of John Phillips and Henrietta Eccleston.1 He married Susanna Elizabeth Burney, daughter of Charles Burney and Esther Sleepe, on 10 January 1782.2 He married Ann Maturin in 1800.2 He died on 11 September 1832 at age 77.2
     He lived at Belcotton, County Louth, Ireland.1 He accompanied Captain Cook on his last voyage and shot the native who killed him.1
