     Colonel David Alexander Somerville Cranstoun of that Ilk and Corehouse was born on 19 December 1943 at British Embassy, Washington, D.C., U.S.A..¹ He is the son of Major John Gilbert Lockhart and Margaret Colette Mary Gordon.² He married Maja Martha Glattli, daughter of Professor Hugo Glattli, on 31 May 1991.¹
     Colonel David Alexander Somerville Cranstoun of that Ilk and Corehouse was baptised with the name of David Alexander Somerville Lockhart.¹ He was educated at Winchester College, Winchester, Hampshire, England.¹ He graduated from Trinity College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).¹ He was commissioned in 1964, in the service of the Queen's Own Lowland Highlanders.¹ He graduated from University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, with a Master of Science (M.Sc.).¹ He graduated from University of Edinburgh, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland, with a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.).¹ He was a cereal specialist with the Scientific Advisory Committee.¹ He was admitted to Royal Company of Archers in 1973.¹ He was director of Scottish Quality Cereals.¹ He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in 1982.¹ He was decorated with the award of Territorial Decoration (T.D.).¹ He gained the rank of Colonel in 1990.¹ On 12 September 1991 his name was legally changed to David Alexander Somerville Cranstoun of that Ilk and Corehouse.¹ He was recognised by the Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Office on 12 September 1991.¹ He held the position of Chief of the Name and Arms of Cranstoun on 12 September 1991.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Lanarkshire in 1992.¹ He retired from the military in 1993, with the rank of Territorial Army Colonel, late of the Lowlands.¹ He was chairman of the Scottish Society of Crop Research between 1997 and 2001.¹ He gained the rank of Honorary Colonel in 2001 in the service of the Glasgow and Lanarks Battalion, Army Cadet Force.¹ He lived in 2003 at 3 Wilton Road, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland.¹

     Maja Martha Glattli is the daughter of Professor Hugo Glattli.² She married Colonel David Alexander Somerville Cranstoun of that Ilk and Corehouse, son of Major John Gilbert Lockhart and Margaret Colette Mary Gordon, on 31 May 1991.¹
     Maja Martha Glattli was a practising Advocate.¹ She graduated with a Doctorr of Jurisprudence.¹ From 12 September 1991, her married name became Cranstoun.¹

     Alexander John George Cranstoun of that Ilk and Corehouse, younger was born on 15 June 1995.¹ He is the son of Colonel David Alexander Somerville Cranstoun of that Ilk and Corehouse and Maja Martha Glattli.²

     Laurence Hugo Cranstoun was born on 2 June 1997.¹ He is the son of Colonel David Alexander Somerville Cranstoun of that Ilk and Corehouse and Maja Martha Glattli.²

     William Cranstoun, 5th Lord Cranstoun married Lady Jane Kerr, daughter of Sir William Kerr, 2nd Marquess of Lothian.¹
     William Cranstoun, 5th Lord Cranstoun gained the title of 5th Lord Cranstoun.
