     Sir John Carnegie was the son of Sir Robert Carnegie of Kinnaird and Margaret Guthrie.1 He married, firstly, Agnes Wood, daughter of David Wood.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Keith.1 He died in 1595, without male issue.1
      On 3 December 1546 he was granted charters of the lands of Erlisfield, Aberdeenshire.1 On 4 October 1548 he was granted charters of the lands of Balbardy, Fife.1 In February 1549/50 he was granted charters of the lands of Sunderthers, Forfarshire.1 He lived at Kinnaird, Perthshire, Scotland.1
