Maj.-Gen. Sir John Ponsonby was born on 25 March 1866.1 He was the son of General Rt. Hon. Sir Henry Frederick Ponsonby and Hon. Mary Elizabeth Bulteel.1 He married Mary Robley, daughter of Thomas Robley, on 21 December 1935.1 He died on 26 March 1952 at age 86, without issue.1
