Major Hugh Charles Fortescue was born on 7 July 1860.1 He was the son of Francis Fortescue and Katherine Frederica Ellice.2 He married Minnie Anne Duncan, daughter of Peter Duncan, in 1892.1 He died on 12 October 1937 at age 77.1
