     Lt.-Col. John Stewart was born on 21 May 1869.1 He was the son of John Leveson Douglas Stewart and Margaret Anne Thomson.1 He married Valentia Worship, daughter of William Worship, in 1891.1 He died on 19 February 1931 at age 61.1
     Lt.-Col. John Stewart fought in the Boer War.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Black Watch.1 He was decorated with the Companion, Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1919.1
