     Robert Hamilton was born on 14 May 1615.1 He was the son of Thomas Hamilton, 1st Earl of Haddington and Julian Kerr.1 He died on 30 August 1640 at age 25 at Dunglass Castle, Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland, killed in a giunpowder explosion set by an English servant, Edward Paris.1
