     William Henry Haig was born on 3 February 1841.1 He was the son of John Haig and Rachel Mackerras Veitch.2 He married Emily Martha Newman, daughter of Reverend William Newman, on 6 June 1871.1 He died on 5 July 1884 at age 43.1
     William Henry Haig graduated from University College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Fife.1 He lived at Cameron Birdge, Fife, Scotland.1 He lived at Broomfield, Midlothian, Scotland.1
