William Houstoun-Boswall-Preston was born on 11 April 1849.1 He was the son of Colonel Sir George Augustus Frederick Houstoun-Boswall of Blackadder, 2nd Bt. and Euphemia Boswall.2 He died in 1885, unmarried.1
William Houstoun-Boswall-Preston was baptised with the name of William Houstoun-Boswall.1 On 7 April 1863 his name was legally changed to William Houstoun-Boswall-Preston by Royal Licence, under the terms of the will of his great-uncle, Sir Henry Lindsay Preston, Bt.1 He graduated with a Master of Arts (M.A.).1 He was a practising barrister.1

Sir Gordon Houstoun-Boswall of Blackadder, 6th Bt. was born on 15 March 1887.3 He was the son of Thomas Alford Houstoun-Boswall-Preston and Alice Mary Cunard.2 He married Daisy Copeland Waller, daughter of Edwin Copeland Waller, on 11 July 1916.3 He died on 28 February 1961 at age 73.3
Sir Gordon Houstoun-Boswall of Blackadder, 6th Bt. was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England.3 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the 1st Life Guards.3 He fought in the First World War.3 He succeeded to the title of 6th Baronet Houstoun, of Calderhall [U.K., 1836] on 4 December 1953.1
