Francis Hay was the son of Peter Hay and Margaret Boyd.1 He married, firstly, Janet Halyburton, daughter of James Halyburton of Essie, on 2 July 1618.2 A contract for the marriage of Francis Hay and Elspeth Oliphant was signed on 26 April 1637.2 He died circa 1654.2
Francis Hay was a practising Writer to the Signet (W.S.).2 In 1625 he had a charter of Balhousie.2 In 1632 he had a charter of Corugilton, Wigtownshire.2 In 1642 he had a charter of the territorial Barony of Dupplin.2 In 1648 he had a charter of Rattray.2 He lived at Rattray, Perthshire, Scotland.

George Henry Hay, 8th Earl of Kinnoull was born on 23 June 1689.1 He was the son of Thomas Hay, 7th Earl of Kinnoull and Elizabeth Drummond.2 He married Lady Abigail Harley, daughter of Robert Harley, 1st Earl of Oxford, circa 1 September 1709.1 He died on 28 July 1758 at age 69.1
George Henry Hay, 8th Earl of Kinnoull held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Tory) for Fowey from 1710 to 1711.1 He held the office of Teller of the Exchequer between 1711 and 1714.1 He was created 1st Baron Hay of Pedwardine, co. Hereford [Great Britain] on 31 December 1711.1 In 1715 he was imprisoned in the Tower of London for suspected Jacobite sympathies, but was bailed in 1717.1 He succeeded to the title of 8th Earl of Kinnoull [S., 1633] on 5 January 1718/19.1 He succeeded to the title of 8th Viscount of Dupplin [S., 1633] on 5 January 1718/19.1 He succeeded to the title of 2nd Viscount of Dupplin [S., 1697] on 5 January 1718/19.1 He succeeded to the title of 8th Lord Hay of Kinfauns [S., 1633] on 5 January 1718/19.1 He held the office of Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire between 1729 and 1734.1

Thomas Hay, 9th Earl of Kinnoull was born on 4 June 1710.1 He was the son of George Henry Hay, 8th Earl of Kinnoull and Lady Abigail Harley.1 He married Constantia Kyrle-Ernle, daughter of John Kyrle-Ernle and Constantia Rolt, on 12 June 1741.1 He died on 27 December 1787 at age 77, without surviving issue.1
