     Grosvenor Arthur Alexander Hood, 5th Viscount Hood of Whitley was born on 13 November 1868.1 He was the son of Francis Wheler Hood, 4th Viscount Hood of Whitley and Edith Lydia Drummond Ward.2 He married, firstly, Jane Primrose Stapleton-Cotton, daughter of Colonel Hon. Richard Southwell George Stapleton-Cotton and Hon. Jane Charlotte Methuen, on 28 February 1911.2 He married, secondly, Marguerite Jenny Hood, daughter of Hon. Albert Hood and Julia Jane Hornby, on 2 June 1928.2 He died on 26 April 1933 at age 64, without issue.1
     He fought in the Ashanti War between 1895 and 1896.1 He gained the rank of Major in the Grenadier Guards.1 He fought in the Boer War between 1900 and 1902.1 He succeeded as the 5th Viscount Hood of Whitley, co. Warwick [G.B., 1796] on 27 April 1907.1 He succeeded as the 5th Baron Hood of Catherington, co. Southampton [G.B., 1795] on 27 April 1907.1 He succeeded as the 5th Baron Hood of Catherington [I., 1782] on 27 April 1907.1 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Hood, of Catherington, co. Southampton [G.B., 1778] on 27 April 1907.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the 7th Battalion London Regiment.1 He was appointed Officer, Order of the British Empire (O.B.E.) in 1919.1

Jane Charlotte Methuen.2 She married Grosvenor Arthur Alexander Hood, 5th Viscount Hood of Whitley, son of Francis Wheler Hood, 4th Viscount Hood of Whitley and Edith Lydia Drummond Ward, on 28 February 1911.1 She died on 5 March 1919 at age 36.1
     Jane Primrose Stapleton-Cotton usually went by her middle name of Primrose. From 28 February 1911, her married name became Hood. After her marriage, Jane Primrose Stapleton-Cotton was styled as Viscountess Hood of Whitley on 28 February 1911.
