     James Oswald Haldane was born on 27 May 1879.1 He was the son of Robert Camperdown Haldane and Emily Anderson.2 He died on 8 August 1916 at age 37, killed in action.1
     James Oswald Haldane fought in the Boer War.1 He gained the rank of officer in the service of the Suffolk Regiment (Cambridge University Rifles Volunteers).1 He was with the Uganda Civil Service.1 He gained the rank of offcier in the service of the Rifle Brigade.1 He fought in the First World War.1
