     She was appointed Commander, Order of the British Empire (C.B.E.)1 From 15 October 1884, her married name became Williams.

     Charles Ross was born on 6 July 1799.2 He was the son of General Alexander Ross and Barbara Evelyn Isabella Gunning.3 He married Lady Mary Cornwallis, daughter of Sir Charles Cornwallis, 2nd Marquess Cornwallis and Lady Louisa Gordon, on 7 April 1825.1 He died on 22 March 1860 at age 60.1
     He was educated in 1818 at Christ Church, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Orford between 1 October 1822 and 1826.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for St. Germans between 1826 and 1832.2 He was Commissioner of Lunacy between 1828 and 1835.2 He held the office of a Lord of the Admiralty between July 1830 and November 1830.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Northampton between 1832 and 1837.2 He held the office of a Lord of Treasury between December 1834 and April 1835.2 He was Commissioner of Excise between 1845 and 1849.2 He was Commissioner of Audit between 1849 and 1860.2 He has an extensive biographical entry in the History of Parliament.2
