Maj.-Gen. George de la Poer Beresford was born on 16 August 1830.1 He was the son of Reverend George Hamilton de la Poer Beresford and Elizabeth Nisbet.1 He married Hester Beatrice Bury, daughter of Reverend Robert Bury and Letitia Barry, on 16 February 1865.1 He died on 7 October 1913 at age 83.1
