     Jonathan Chetwode was born on 31 May 1757.1 He was the son of Valentine Knightley Chetwode and Henrietta Maria Cope.1 He died on 11 May 1839 at age 81.1
     Jonathan Chetwode held the office of High Sheriff of Queen's County in 1781.1 He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Militia.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.).1 He lived at Woodbrook, Portarlington, County Laois, Ireland.1 He was twice married, but had no issue.1

     Elizabeth Hamilton was the daughter of Dr. William Hamilton.1 She married Reverend John Chetwode, son of Crewe Chetwode and Anna Maria Holford, on 25 October 1769.1 She died in 1826.1
     From 25 October 1769, her married name became Chetwode.1
