     Sir Gilbert Hoghton, 2nd Bt. was the son of Sir Richard Hoghton, 1st Bt. and Catharine Gerard.² He married Margaret Aston, daughter of Sir Roger Aston.¹ He died in April 1647.¹
     He accompanied the Prince of Wales (later King Charles I) to Spain to woo the Infanta.¹ He was Carver in Ordinary to King Charles I.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lancashire.¹ He was invested as a Knight in 1604.³ He held the office of Steward of the Royal Forests.¹ He succeeded to the title of 2nd Baronet Hoghton, of Hoghton Tower, and Walton le Dale, co. Lancaster [E., 1611] on 12 November 1630.¹ He was 2nd in charge to the Earl of Derby, commander of Royal forces in Lancashire during the Civil War.¹ He had three other sons and four daughters.³

     Margaret Aston was the daughter of Sir Roger Aston.² She married Sir Gilbert Hoghton, 2nd Bt., son of Sir Richard Hoghton, 1st Bt. and Catharine Gerard.¹ She died on 23 December 1657.¹
     Her married name became Hoghton.

     Sir Richard Hoghton, 3rd Bt. was the son of Sir Gilbert Hoghton, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Aston.² He married Lady Sarah Stanhope, daughter of Philip Stanhope, 1st Earl of Chesterfield.¹ He died on 3 February 1677/78, with other issue.¹
     Sir Richard Hoghton, 3rd Bt. succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet Hoghton, of Hoghton Tower, and Walton le Dale, co. Lancaster [E., 1611] in April 1647.¹ He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lancashire.³ He held the office of Extraordinary Gentleman of the Privy Chamber in 1661.¹

     Hon. Caroline Delacourt-Smith was born in 1944.¹ She is the daughter of Charles George Percy Delacourt-Smith, Baron Delacourt-Smith and Margaret Rosalind Hando, Baroness Delacourt-Smith of Alteryn.¹ She married Roger Martin Pudney in 1969.¹
     From 1969, her married name became Pudney.¹

     Lady Sarah Stanhope was the daughter of Philip Stanhope, 1st Earl of Chesterfield.² She married Sir Richard Hoghton, 3rd Bt., son of Sir Gilbert Hoghton, 2nd Bt. and Margaret Aston.¹ She died in May 1698.¹
     Her married name became Hoghton.

     Sir Charles Hoghton, 4th Bt. is the son of Sir Richard Hoghton, 3rd Bt. and Lady Sarah Stanhope.² He married Mary Skeffington, daughter of John Skeffington, 2nd Viscount Massereene, circa 8 March 1676.¹
     Sir Charles Hoghton, 4th Bt. held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Lancashire.¹ He succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet Hoghton, of Hoghton Tower, and Walton le Dale, co. Lancaster [E., 1611] on 3 February 1677/78.¹

     Roger Martin Pudney married Hon. Caroline Delacourt-Smith, daughter of Charles George Percy Delacourt-Smith, Baron Delacourt-Smith and Margaret Rosalind Hando, Baroness Delacourt-Smith of Alteryn, in 1969.¹

     Mary Skeffington was the daughter of John Skeffington, 2nd Viscount Massereene.² She married Sir Charles Hoghton, 4th Bt., son of Sir Richard Hoghton, 3rd Bt. and Lady Sarah Stanhope, circa 8 March 1676.¹ She died on 30 April 1732.¹
     From circa 8 March 1676, her married name became Hoghton.
