     Caroline Oliphant was born on 16 July 1766 at Findo-Gask, Perthshire, Scotland.2 She was the daughter of Laurence Oliphant, 7th of Gask and Margaret Robertson.1 She married William Murray Nairne, 5th Lord Nairne, son of John Nairne and Brabazon Wheeler, on 2 June 1806.3 She died on 27 October 1845 at age 79.1
      Authoress of romantic Jacobite ballads.3 From 2 June 1806, her married name became Nairne.4
