     James Gordon was the son of George Gordon.2 He married Marjory Menzies, daughter of Sir Thomas Menzies.1 He died in 1582.1
     In 1567 he rallied to the defence of the young Prince James (King James VI of Scotland and I of Britain) towards the end of the effective reign of Mary Queen of Scots.1 He joined the 4th Earl of Huntly and remained loyal to the Queen.1
