     Captain Ashley William Neville Ponsonby was born on 1 March 1882.1 He was the son of Hon. Edwin Charles William Ponsonby and Emily Dora Coope.2 He died on 8 September 1915 at age 33, killed in action.1
     He was Aide-de-Camp to the Governor of Natal in 1907.1 He fought in the First World War.1 He was Military Secretary to the Governor-General of South Africa in 1914.1 He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry.1
