     Richard Hungerford Townsend was the son of Reverend Thomas Uniacke Townsend and Elizabeth Carr.2 He married Arabella Jane Denny, daughter of Reverend Henry Denny and Sophia Catherine MacGillycuddy, on 16 February 1874.1 He died in 1922.1
     Richard Hungerford Townsend graduated with a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.).1 He lived at Ardeevin, Queenstown, County Cork, Ireland.1

     Richard Uniacke Denny Townsend was born on 6 August 1914.1 He was the son of Thomas Henry Denny Townsend and Ethel Mary Studdert.2 He married Ursula Yvonne Oakes, daughter of Lt.-Col. Thomas Henry Edmund Oakes and Yvonne Emily Shoppee, on 23 March 1943.1 He died on 4 September 1999 at age 85.3
     Richard Uniacke Denny Townsend was educated at Marlborough College, Marlborough, Wiltshire, England.1 He graduated from Christ Church College, Oxford University, Oxford, Oxfordshire, England, in 1936 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.).1 He was with the British Council in Poland between 1938 and 1939.1 He fought in the Second World War, with the Merchant Service and Intelligence Corps.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve.1 He was decorated with the award of Distinguished Service Cross (D.S.C.) in 1945.1 He was a Master between 1946 and 1964 at Repton School, Repton, Derbyshire, England.1 He was Head of the Modern Languages Department between 1964 and 1974 at Portree High School, Portree, Isle of Skye, Scotland.1 He lived in 1976 at Glamaig Cottage, Braes, Portree, Isle of Skye, Scotland.1
