     Rt. Hon. Sir Thomas Erskine Perry was born on 20 July 1806 at Wandlebank House, Wimbledon, Surrey, England.2 He was the son of James Perry and Anne Hull.2 He married, firstly, Louisa M'Elkiney, daughter of James M'Elkiney, in 1834.2 He married Elizabeth Margaret Vanden-Bempde-Johnstone, daughter of Sir John Vanden-Bempde-Johnstone, 2nd Bt. and Louisa Augusta Venables-Vernon, on 6 June 1855.1 He died on 22 April 1882 at age 75.1
     He was educated at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, England.2 He graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England, in 1829 with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)2 He was appointed Knight on 11 February 1841.2 He held the office of Chief Justice of Bombay between 1847 and 1852. He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) (Liberal) for Devonport between 1854 and 1859.2 He held the office of Member of the Council of India between 1859 and 1882.2
