     He gained the rank of Captain in the service of the 1st Life Guards.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.).1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.).1

     S/Ldr. Thomas William Hay was born on 25 August 1882.1 He was the son of Admiral Lord John Hay and Annie Christina Lambert.1 He died on 10 July 1956 at age 73, unmarried.1
     He was educated at Clifton College, Clifton, Bristol, Gloucestershire, England.1 He fought in the First World War, where he was mentioned in despatches.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Leicestershire Yeomanry.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for South Norfolk from November 1922 to November 1923.1 He gained the rank of Squadron Leader in the service of the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve.1
