     Lady Mary Louisa Lambton was the daughter of John George Lambton, 1st Earl of Durham and Lady Louisa Elizabeth Grey.1 She married James Bruce, 12th Earl of Kincardine, son of General Thomas Bruce, 11th Earl of Kincardine and Elizabeth Oswald, on 7 November 1846.1 She died on 9 March 1898.1
     Lady Mary Louisa Lambton was decorated with the award of Imperial Order of the Crown of India (C.I.).1 As a result of her marriage, Lady Mary Louisa Lambton was styled as Countess of Elgin and Kincardine on 7 November 1846. From 7 November 1846, her married name became Bruce.

     Elizabeth Mary Cumming-Bruce was the daughter of Charles Lennox Cumming-Bruce and unknown daughter Hay.2 She married James Bruce, 12th Earl of Kincardine, son of General Thomas Bruce, 11th Earl of Kincardine and Elizabeth Oswald, on 22 April 1841.1 She died on 7 July 1843.1
     Her married name became Bruce. As a result of her marriage, Elizabeth Mary Cumming-Bruce was styled as Countess of Elgin and Kincardine on 14 November 1841.

     Charles Bruce, 9th Earl of Kincardine was born on 6 July 1732.1 He was the son of William Bruce, 8th Earl of Kincardine and Jane Roberton.1 He married Martha Whyte, daughter of Thomas Whyte, on 1 June 1759.1 He died on 14 May 1771 at age 38.3
     Charles Bruce, 9th Earl of Kincardine succeeded to the title of 9th Lord Bruce of Torry [S., 1647] on 8 September 1740.1 He succeeded to the title of 9th Earl of Kincardine [S., 1647] on 8 September 1740.1 He was educated at Rugby College, Rugby, Warwickshire, England.1 He succeeded to the title of 5th Lord Bruce of Kinloss [S., 1633] on 10 February 1747.3 He succeeded to the title of 5th Earl of Elgin [S., 1633] on 10 February 1747.1

     Martha Whyte was the daughter of Thomas Whyte.3 She married Charles Bruce, 9th Earl of Kincardine, son of William Bruce, 8th Earl of Kincardine and Jane Roberton, on 1 June 1759.1 She died on 21 June 1810.1
     Martha Whyte was Governess to HRH Princess Charlotte of Wales.1 As a result of her marriage, Martha Whyte was styled as Countess of Elgin and Kincardine on 1 June 1759. From 1 June 1759, her married name became Bruce.
