Hon. Shapland Francis Carew was born on 19 February 1827.1 He was the son of Sir Robert Shapland Carew, 1st Baron Carew and Jane Catherine Cliffe.2 He married Lady Hester Georgiana Browne, daughter of Howe Peter Browne, 2nd Marquess of Sligo and Lady Hester Catherine de Burgh, on 7 August 1858.1 He died on 6 June 1892 at age 65.1
Hon. Shapland Francis Carew gained the rank of Lieutenant in the service of the 8th Hussars.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel in the service of the Wexford Militia.1 He held the office of Resident Magistrate of Clonmel, County Tipperary.1
