Robert Hare was born on 5 August 1808. He was the son of Colonel Richard Hare, Viscount Ennismore and Hon. Catherine Bridget Dillon. He married Louisa Augusta French, daughter of Thomas G. French, on 9 January 1840. He died on 8 July 1865 at age 56.
