Admiral James O'Brien, 3rd Marquess of Thomond

     Admiral James O'Brien, 3rd Marquess of Thomond was born circa 1768.1 He was the son of Edward O'Brien and Mary Carrick.2 He married, firstly, Eliza Bridgeman Willyams, daughter of James Willyams and Anne Champion, on 25 November 1800 at Truro, Cornwall, England.1 He married, secondly, Jane Ottley, daughter of Thomas Ottley and Grace Johnson Byam, in 1806 at Clarke's Hill, Antigua.1 He married, thirdly, Anne Flint, daughter of William Flint and Anne Mill, on 5 January 1847.3 He died on 3 July 1855, without issue.1 He was buried on 10 July 1855 at St. Saviour's, Walcot, England.
     He was commissioned in 1783, in the service of the Royal Navy.1 He gained the rank of Midshipman between 1786 and 1789.1 He gained the rank of Lieutenant in 1790.1 He gained the rank of Commander in 1796.1 He gained the rank of Captain in 1799.1 He gained the rank of Rear-Admiral in 1825.1 He was invested as a Knight Grand Cross, Hanoverian Order (G.C.H.) in 1831.1 He gained the rank of Vice-Admiral in 1837.1 He succeeded to the title of 7th Baron O'Brien of Burren, co. Clare [I., 1634] on 21 August 1846.1 He succeeded to the title of 7th Earl of Inchiquin [I., 1634] on 21 August 1846.1 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Marquess of Thomond [I., 1800] on 21 August 1846.1 He succeeded to the title of 12th Baron of Inchiquin [I., 1543] on 21 August 1846.1 He gained the rank of Admiral in 1847.1
     The marquessate, earldom and 1654 barony became extinct on his death.1

     Sir Edward O'Brien, 4th Bt. was born on 17 April 1773.1 He was the son of Rt. Hon. Sir Lucius O'Brien, 3rd Bt. and Anne ffrench.2 He married Charlotte Smith, daughter of William Smith, on 12 November 1799.1 He died on 13 March 1837 at age 63.2
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ennis between 1795 and 1800.1 He succeeded to the title of 4th Baronet O'Brien, of Lemeneagh and Dromoland, co. Clare [I., 1686] on 15 January 1795.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Clare between 1802 and 1826.1

     Rt. Hon. Sir Lucius O'Brien, 3rd Bt. was born on 2 September 1731.2 He was the son of Sir Edward O'Brien, 2nd Bt. and Mary Hickman.2 He married Anne ffrench, daughter of Robert ffrench and Nichola Acheson, on 26 May 1768.2 He died on 15 January 1795 at age 63.2
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ennis between 1761 and 1768.3 He succeeded to the title of 3rd Baronet O'Brien, of Lemeneagh and Dromoland, co. Clare [I., 1686] on 26 November 1765.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for County Clare between 1768 and 1783.2 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.).2 He was invested as a Fellow, Royal Society (F.R.S.).3 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Tuam between 1783 and 1790.2 He was Clerk of the Crown and Hanaper between 1788 and 1795.2 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Ennis between 1790 and 1796.2

     Sir Donough O'Brien, 1st Bt. was born in 1642.1 He was the son of Colonel Connor McDonogh O'Brien and Mary 'Rua' MacMahon.2 He married by contract, firstly, Lucia Hamilton, daughter of Hon. Sir George Hamilton, 1st Bt. and Lady Mary Butler, on 24 July 1674.3 He married, secondly, Elizabeth Deane, daughter of Major Joseph Deane, on 23 July 1677.1 He died on 17 November 1717.1
     He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.).1 He was invested as a Privy Counsellor (P.C.).1 He was created 1st Baronet O'Brien, of Lemeneagh and Dromoland, co. Clare on 9 November 1686.1

     Donogh McMurrough O'Brien was the son of Murrough O'Brien, 1st Earl of Thomond and Eleanor fitz John.2 He and Honora O'Brien were divorced.1 He married, firstly, Honora O'Brien, daughter of Conor O'Brien, 2nd Earl of Thomond and Una O'Brien.1 He married, secondly, Slany Macnamara, daughter of John Macnamara.1 He died on 6 September 1582 at Limerick, County Limerick, Ireland, hanged under martial law operating at the time, despite being under nominal protection.1
     He lived at Dromoland, County Clare, Ireland.1 He lived at Lemenagh, County Clare, Ireland.1
