     Alice Adelaide Cleveland was the daughter of Henry Cleveland.1 She married, firstly, Patrick Cumin Scott before 1911.1 She married, secondly, Charles Frederic Earle, son of Sir Thomas Earle, 2nd Bt. and Emily Fletcher, on 30 November 1911.1 She died on 22 May 1942.1
     From before 1911, her married name became Scott.1 From 30 November 1911, her married name became Earle.

     Thomas Douglas Victor Swinscow was born on 10 July 1917 at Stroud, Gloucestershire, EnglandG.2 He was the son of William Sprague Swinscow and Nellie Alleyne.3,2 He married Josephine Noëlle Earle, daughter of Charles Frederic Earle and Alice Adelaide Cleveland, on 17 July 1941.1 He died on 24 September 1992 at age 75 at Exeter, Devon, EnglandG.1,2
     Thomas Douglas Victor Swinscow usually went by his middle name of Douglas.2 He was educated at Kelly College, Tavistock, Devon, EnglandG.2 He graduated from St. Thomas Hospital Medical School, London, EnglandG, in 1940 with a Bachelor of Medicine (M.B.)1,2 He was registered as a Licentiate, Royal College of Physicians, London (L.R.C.P.)2 He was registered as a Member, Royal College of Surgeons (M.R.C.S.)2 He gained the rank of Lieutenant on 15 May 1941 in the Royal Army Medical Corps.2 He fought in the Second World War, and was wounded at Arnhem.2 He was deputy editor of the British Medical Jounral between 1946 and 1977.1 He graduated from St. Thomas Hospital Medical School, London, EnglandG, in 1947 with a Bachelor of Surgery (B.S.)1,2 He graduated with a Doctor of Science (D.Sc.)1 He wrote the book Reap a Destiny: divagations of a Taoist, published 1989.2
