     Sir John Alwyne Pelly, 6th Bt. was educated at Canford School, Wimborne, Dorset, England.¹ He was educated at Royal Military College, Sandhurst, Berkshire, England.¹ He gained the rank of Major in the service of the Coldstream Guards.¹ He fought in the Second World War between 1939 and 1942, where he became a POW.¹ He fought in the Malayan Emergency between 1948 and 1949.¹ He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Hampshire in 1966.¹ He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Hampshire in 1972.¹ He succeeded to the title of 6th Baronet Pelly, of Upton, Essex [U.K., 1840] in 1981.¹
