     Elizabeth Stirling was the daughter of James Stirling of Stirling Keir.2 She married John Napier, 8th of Merchistoun, son of Sir Archibald Napier of Merchistoun and Janet Bothwell, in 1572.1 She died in 1579.1
      From 1572, her married name became Napier.1

     John Napier, 8th of Merchistoun was born in 1550.3 He was the son of Sir Archibald Napier of Merchistoun and Janet Bothwell. He married Agnes Chisholm, daughter of Sir James Chisholm of Cromlix and Jean Drummond.3 He married Elizabeth Stirling, daughter of James Stirling of Stirling Keir, in 1572.1 He died on 4 April 1617.1
     He was inventor of logarithms.4
