     Sir Edmund Castell Bacon, 13th and 14th Bt. was born on 18 March 1903.² He was the son of Sir Nicholas Henry Bacon, 12th and 13th Bt. and Constance Alice Melville.² He married Priscilla Dora Ponsonby, daughter of Colonel Sir Charles Edward Ponsonby, 1st Bt. and Hon. Winifred Marian Gibbs, on 15 January 1936.² He died on 30 September 1982 at age 79.²

Suffolk [E., 1627] on 1 January 1947.² He held the office of Lord-Lieutenant of Norfolk between 1949 and 1982.² He was invested as a Knight, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.St.J.).² He was chairman of Brown Sugar Corporation between 1957 and 1968.² He was Honorary Colonel of the 308 (Suffolk and Norfolk Yeomanry) Field Regiment, Royal Artillery between 1961 and 1967.² He held the office of Pro-Chancellor of East Anglia University between 1964 and 1973.² He was invested as a Knight Commander, Order of the British Empire (K.B.E.) in 1965.² He was chariman of Agricultural North East Development Council between 1966 and 1982.² He was director of Lloyds Bank.² He was invested as a Knight, Order of the Garter (K.G.) in 1970.² He has an extensive biographical entry in the Dictionary of National Biography.³
