     Colonel Brian Sherlock Gooch was born on 1 August 1904.1 He was the son of Sir Thomas Vere Sherlock Gooch, 10th Bt. and Florence Meta Draper.2 He married Monica Mary Heywood, daughter of Nathaniel Arthur Heywood and Florence Amy Clarke, on 6 July 1935.1 He died on 15 April 1968 at age 63.1
     He was awarded the Territorial Decoration (T.D.)1 He fought in the Second World War, he was mentioned in despatches.1 He was Brevet-Colonel of the Suffolk Yeomanry between 1944 and 1950.1 He was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (D.S.O.) in 1946.1 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Suffolk in 1954.1 He held the office of High Sheriff of Suffolk in 1956.1 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Suffolk in 1958.1

     He was educated at Eton College, Windsor, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was educated at Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst, Berkshire, EnglandG.1 He was commissioned in 1956, in the service of the Life Guards.1 He gained the rank of Adjutant between 1960 and 1963 in the Life Guards.1 He was commanding officer of the Life Guards between 1978 and 1981.1 He was commanding officer of the Royal Armoured Corps Centre between 1987 and 1989.1 He was Aide-de-Camp to HRH Queen Elizabeth II on 14 March 1989.3 He held the office of Deputy Lieutenant (D.L.) of Wiltshire in 1999.1 He lived in 2003 at Manor Farmhouse, Chitterne, Wiltshire, EnglandG.1 He succeeded as the 14th Baronet Gooch, of Benacre Hall, Suffolk [G.B., 1746] on 9 April 2008.
