Sir Patrick Grant of Dalvey, 4th Bt.1

     Sir Patrick Grant of Dalvey, 4th Bt. was born circa 1665.1 He was the son of Donald Grant and Mary Grant.2 He married Lydia Mackintosh, daughter of William Mackintosh of Borlum.1 He died on 10 April 1755, in his 101st year?.1
     On 22 August 1752 he was served heir male-general to his cousin Sir James Grant of Dalvey, 1st Bt.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court in 1753.1 He succeeded as the 4th Baronet Grant, of Dalvey [N.S., 1688] in 1753.1

Sir Alexander Grant of Dalvey, 5th Bt.1

     Sir Alexander Grant of Dalvey, 5th Bt. was the son of Sir Patrick Grant of Dalvey, 4th Bt. and Lydia Mackintosh.2 He married, firstly, Elizabeth Coote, daughter of Robert Coote.1 He married, secondly, Margaret Grant, daughter of Alexander Grant of Auchterblair, on 1 October 1764, Note that Sir Alexander's will refers only to his first wife as his widow, making this second marriage seem doubtful.1 He died on 1 August 1772, without issue.1
     In 1749 he made a fortune in the West Indies and bought in the estate of Grangehill and other lands in the parish of Dyke, both Elginshire, which he renamed Dalvey.1 He succeeded as the 5th Baronet Grant, of Dalvey [N.S., 1688] on 10 April 1755.1 In addition he owned Bookham Grove, Leatherhead, Surrey.1 In 1758 he purchased the estate of Kincarth in the parish of Dyke.1 He held the office of Member of Parliament (M.P.) for Inverness Burghs between 1761 and 1768.1 On 8 July 1761 he was granted supporters to his arms by royal warrant.1 He was recognised by Lord Lyon King of Arms, and matriculated his arms at the Lyons Court in 1762.1
