Edward Henry Cradock Monckton was born on 12 September 1812. He was the son of Philip Monckton and Henrietta Carter. He married, firstly, Caroline Rosa Woodcock, daughter of Charles Woodcock, in 1835. He married, secondly, Maria Catherine Tydd on 7 October 1839. He died on 24 July 1878 at age 65.

Sophia Rosa Monckton was the daughter of Edward Henry Cradock Monckton and Caroline Rosa Woodcock. She married Reverend Cornelius Thompson on 24 January 1872. She died on 13 June 1910.
