He was the son of Johann Friedrich zu Hohenlohe-Jagstberg and Anna Maria Erzherzogin von Österreich. He married Marie Claire Buet de Villars, daughter of Ferdinand Henri Buet, Marquess de Villars and Georgette Giraud, on 20 January 1959 at Birnau, Germany. He died on 16 May 1985 at age 74 at Bonn-Bad Godesberg, Germany.
